BTCV are running an exciting working holiday to Albany, New York State in the USA, in September. Andy Mydellton is the leader for this break and will gladly explain what the holiday is about to those who are interested.

The basic details are that the holiday starts on Monday 27th September and finishes on Friday 8th October; and that the cost is £495.00.

We will be building paths and wooden bridges, managing habitats and enjoying wildlife that may well include black bear, loons, eagles, otters and much more. We will be working in the Edmund Niles Huyck Preserve which is close to other wildlife areas that could also be visited before or after the arranged holiday. Participants must make their own way to the USA and back, although further advice on exact details will be given.                                  Photographic Exhibition

On Friday 5th March John Randall, MP for Uxbridge officially visited the Foundation’s photographic exhibition at Uxbridge Library, entitled the ‘International Year of Biodiversity’. Mr Randall was very happy with the exhibition and wished the charity well for its future. Andy Mydellton later presented the MP with a large photograph of a tiger’s portrait which is used as the Wildlife Zone banner.

On Thursday 18th March at 3.00pm the Nepalese Embassy will be closing the exhibition. This visit will highlight the Foundation’s work in Nepal, their involvement in UNESCO, and will support friendly eco tourism in Nepal. The Foundation is pleased to be hosts to the Embassy once again, as these visits have proved to be successful in the past.

                                                     UNESCO

UNESCO has now published its International Year of Biodiversity School-packs. If anyone is interested in receiving one of these, by all means let us know.

Croydon College invited Andy Mydellton to represent the UK Commission’s Schools Group to its Wildlife Gardening and Animal Feeding Station launch on Wednesday 24th February. This is a long term urban wildlife scheme in the college, involving many students in subjects such as carpentry, media studies, the sciences and many more. The Foundation wishes them well, as the college is now applying to join the UNESCO Schools Group and is creating links with a Nepalese College.
