Biodiversity Year Exhibition
One of the ways that the Foundation for
Endangered Species is responding to the
International Year of Biodiversity is by organizing
photographic exhibitions. The first display for 2010
is at Uxbridge library starting on 27 February and
finishing on Thursday, 18 March. John Randall MP
for Uxbridge is one of our honoured guests and
will be visiting the exhibition on Friday 5th March at
11.00am.
- Andy also makes rare TV appearances, such as successfully undertaking the only ever UK feral Wallaby census on the Richard Hammond show; as well as appearing on wildlife panel discussion programmes.
- There were also regular spots on the Sam Jackson Show in 2008 at TIME FM where local issues were discussed.
- Now podcasts are being made to make some of these develped features available to all conservationists. A "special report" broadcast is available here
- A charity CD is being published on behalf of the Foundation for Endangered Species and should be released later in 2008. It will include many underrated but good quality artists and complied into a mixed musical genre.
- Another CD or talking book is being prepared, probably for release in 2009. Two possibilities include Aesop's Fables, and the other of Charles Darwin's work for his 150 years anniversary celebration.
- The Wildlife Zone Newsletter keeps everyone updated with a whole host of related issues, events and news, especially those related to the Foundation for Endangered Species. -
This is available here free; however it can also be ordered regularly as a paper copy and received sent by post. We will also send it to those who wish to receive it regularly by email; however we do need people's details in order to do this.
- The official magazine of the Foundation for Endangered Species is also available here free. This shorter version available here is the e-zine. However the magazine is the full version and is available as a hard copy and is available from the foundation. It costs £1.00 per quarter or £6.00 per year on subscription and is sent in the post.
- Photographic Exhibitions have proved to be extremely successful. In particular the exhibitions entitled 'The Kingdom of the Jaguar' and 'The Land of the Tiger'. The previous exhibitions have been presented at places such as Uxbridge, Slough and Reading libraries, the Beck Theatre and Chorak Art Gallery, amongst others. These have had good reviews and feedback in the press and over the airways.
- Many of the photographs have been published as well as being entered in public stalls; however they will be made more available shortly, including on the internet.
- Publishing these images is central to the charitable objects of the Foundation, which is "...to promote the natural and physical environment". So everyone can get to own these animal abd habitat images in smaller and cheaper forms than the larger and more costly medium of proper photographs.
- The more popular images have been published on to a series of eight greeting cards. After being used as cards, they can easily be recycled as prints that can be put into scrapbooks, framed and used as gifts or presents, and also be put onto walls or desktops.
- A further series of eight postcards are in the process of being published. These too will celebrate endangered species and help raise awareness of their plight, and so complement the greeting cards mentioned above.
